Why I Volunteer: Bill Freedman
For the Federation’s “Why I Volunteer” series, a volunteer is asked for a one-sentence answer to the question: “Why do you volunteer in the Jewish community?

[He pauses.] I’m modeling behaviors that I saw from others who showed me what a difference volunteering can make, people like Bob Goldstein, who showed me that investing my time as a volunteer changes your life and makes such a tremendous difference.”

Bill Freedman is a longtime supporter of the Jewish Federation of Cincinnati and currently serves as Create Your Jewish Legacy Chair. Bill was raised in the Washington, DC area, but fell in love with the Midwest while attending college in Minnesota. After accepting a position in Cincinnati, Bill began attending an adult Jewish education class, where he met his wife, Harriet. They have been active in the Jewish Federation of Cincinnati and Northern Hills Synagogue, among other community organizations. Bill and Harriet enjoy living an engaged Jewish life in a community that encourages volunteering. They have raised their son and daughter with their values and established legacy gifts to ensure that their community remains strong and vibrant for future generations.
