Mazel Tov, David!
We are sad to announce that David Harris will no longer be managing theCreate Your Jewish Legacy program—however he will not be far! He will now be leading Jewish Cemeteries of Greater Cincinnati as the new Executive Director.
David built the CYJL program from ground up, and was tireless in his efforts to ensure its success. Under his leadership, our teams and our community secured more Letters of Intent (LOIs) in the first year of the program than any other community in the nation. We are grateful for all the hard work and passion that David has given to the program, our teams, and the community. And luckily, he’s staying in our community and will be part of the CYJL program as a team member of JCGC!
We thank David for his dedication and commitment to the CYJL program and Cincinnati’s Jewish community.
PS If you have any questions or information on CYJL please feel free to contact me atdsteinbuch@jfedcin.org or 513-985-1593.

Sustainers Event
The Federation’s Sustainers Event, honoring Silver Circle, Abraham Moss Society, those who have made a commitment through Create Your Jewish Legacy, and/or those who have made legacy commitments to Jewish organizations and congregations in Cincinnati, will be June 12. Invitations to follow.
For the Federation’s new Why I Volunteer series, a volunteer is asked for a one-sentence answer to the question: “Why do you volunteer in the Jewish community?”
“I enjoy doing it, and I can make this a marvelous community that many can enjoy for many years. [He pauses.] I’m modeling behaviors that I saw from others who showed me what a difference volunteering can make, people like Bob Goldstein, who showed me that investing my time as a volunteer changes your life and makes such a tremendous difference.”
Bill Freedman is a longtime supporter of the Jewish Federation of Cincinnati and currently serves as Create Your Jewish Legacy Chair. Bill was raised in the Washington, DC area, but fell in love with the Midwest while attending college in Minnesota. After accepting a position in Cincinnati, Bill began attending an adult Jewish education class, where he met his wife, Harriet. They have been active in the Jewish Federation of Cincinnati and Northern Hills Synagogue, among other community organizations. Bill and Harriet enjoy living an engaged Jewish life in a community that encourages volunteering. They have raised their son and daughter with their values and established legacy gifts to ensure that their community remains strong and vibrant for future generations. Asked at the February 28 Create Your Jewish Legacy seminar.
“I can tell you that the reward that you will get is greater than you can imagine.

Deb’s May Tip: Why Are Donor-Advised Funds So Popular?
A Personal Approach to Giving
Donor-advised funds are the fastest-growing charitable giving vehicle in the United States because they are one of the easiest and most tax-advantageous ways to give to charity.
“Having a donor-advised fund at the Jewish Federation is an easy and efficient way to make recommendations for contributions to Jewish organizations,” says Craig Coleman, who has had, with his wife, Fran, a donor-advised fund with the Federation for over 15 years.
Donor-advised funds (DAFs) at the Jewish Federation of Cincinnati are a convenient, versatile tool that many individuals and organizations use to effectively plan and manage charitable giving.
Drive change and give the way you want
When you donate to your donor-advised fund, you’re making a tax-deductible donation to the organization sponsoring the fund, in this case the Federation. But because it is your charitable account, you advise us on how to grant the money out to your favorite charities. More >
