Jewish Federations of North America Statement on Israeli Police Killed at Temple Mount
July 14—The Jewish Community Relations Council of the Jewish Federation of Cincinnati joins with the Jewish Federations of North America (JFNA) in strong condemnation of the terror attack at the Temple Mount that claimed the lives of two Israeli Druze police officers. One officer was set to celebrate his engagement next week; the other is survived by a wife and three-week-old son. Our prayers are with their families as we grieve this loss.
Today’s violent act took place at a site revered by Jews, Muslims, and Christians. We call on global leadership to join us in condemnation of this assault on those who were working to keep this site safe.
Statement from the Jewish Federations of North America:
JFNA joins with Israel in mourning the loss of two Israeli police officers murdered early this morning in a terrorist attack at the Lion’s Gate to the Old City in Jerusalem. We send heartfelt condolences to the families of Hail Stawi, 30, from Maghar and Kamil Shanan, 22, from Hurfeish; both men were members of the Druze community. As we prepare for Shabbat, we know their memories will be a blessing for all who knew them. We hope and pray for peace and security for all.
