Jaynie Levinson — Connecting Jewish Young Adults
Let’s Share Gay Tel Aviv with Cincy!
I think I could speak for many when I say this year’s Gay Pride Month of June might go down as one (or THE) best in history. With the Supreme Court ruling in favor of marriage equality in all 50 states the day before Cincinnati (and many other cities) held their Pride festivals, we all had a lot more to celebrate this year!
For the first time locally, three Jewish organizations proudly marched together in the Cincy Pride Parade (Temple Sholom, Rockdale Temple, and the Jewish Federation of Cincinnati). We only hope to expand this group next year to show our Jewish community’s pride!
On a personal note, it was incredible to go from Tel Aviv pride back to celebrating marriage equality at Pride here in Cincinnati. We were fortunate enough to share our story of Tel Aviv Pride to many local media outlets. Some of those are below:
- Activists hope all of Cincinnati takes pride in its connection to Supreme Court marriage ruling
- Want to know what same-sex marriage ruling means? Ask someone who wanted to marry but never could
