Israeli Chronicles — Connecting Israel & Cincinnati
July Netanya Update
The latest from our partnership city in Israel, Netanya:
While our Chaverim M’Israel are working at Camp Livingston for the summer, visiting scouts from Netanya are living it up at Camp Friedlander. With Shabbat dinner, tire swings, and that perfect campfire, it doesn’t get any more “summer” than this!
What’s going on in Netanya? Last weekend, the Onward Israel interns visited! They volunteered at a hospital, had Shabbat dinner, and took in the sights around this gorgeous city. Somewhere in there, they snuck in a group photo! Later, back in Tel Aviv, they met up with the CEO of the Jewish Federation of Cincinnati, Shep Englander, for a delicious dinner. We love it!
This weekend in Netanya: Beer Garden Festival! Look who was there, our friends from a 2014 P2G Young Professionals exchange, Natali Stein and Hai Ati. Belli Haus, one of our Partnership2Gether Committee members in Netanya, shared these fun pictures with us!
All of the Chaverim (ShinShin, Young Emissaries) from around the world are in Jerusalem taking a summer seminar to learn to be Chaverim! They’ll take up their posts in August of 2017. One of their first activities was to welcome a plane of new immigrants (olim) from France as their plane landed!
For teens entering 11th and 12th grade, Camp Livingston combines the best of two worlds: time spent at camp and in Israel. These teens just spent a weekend in Netanya, Israel learning to drum on the beach with friends from the local high school!
When you give to Federation, you help support our partner agency, Camp Livingston, providing need-based scholarships for Cincinnati campers. Partnership2Gether, the Chaverim M’Israel and Camp Livingston are just three of over fifty programs and agencies funded in part by the Jewish Federation of Cincinnati.
The Jewish Federation of Cincinnati: We look at the whole picture, taking into account the diverse needs of the entire community. Together we can do almost anything.
